John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and revert to his usual Southern California voice. Yellowstone is a solidly written drama—great characters, well-developed—that takes its tone from some modern masterpieces. It has the feel and cinematography of Longmire, the gritty plot and perspective of The Sopranos, and the dramatic drive of shows like The Denver Clan or other similar network dramas. Much respect goes to Costner and Cole Hauser—these guys are doing their best. I didn’t expect this show to captivate me so much. It’s worth your time.
