The reviews here are funnier than the show itself, lol
Line of Events
It follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a TV documentary journalist whose work relies on uncovering the wrongdoings of long-respected institutions. Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be cast, but was replaced by Kevin Kline.
How the hell did Alfonso Cuaron manage to put on such a horrible show?
The two young men on the train in the first scene are annoying from the start and the mediocre acting continues from there. Even Kevin Kline, who normally can do no wrong in my eyes, seems to call it that.
The narration is unnatural and has a weird, inconsistent audio quality
It’s as if the actors have no idea how they’re supposed to play their characters. I assume the narration is taken directly from the book, but it doesn’t always make sense in the context of the TV show.
Kodi Smit-McPhee is as depressed as a wet rag
For example, sometimes the narration is directed at Cate Blanchett’s character about her experience, which is just weird. Sacha Baron Cohen seems out of place and is strangely hysterical at times.
It’s all a bit bizarre
One star for the cute cat.
