Anderson’s Great Schools of Dune trilogy
Line of Events
Two Harkonnen sisters battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and form the fabled sect that becomes known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women embody what science fiction is all about. This series uses material from Brian Herbert and Kevin J. A prequel to the original Dune, it tells how the Sisterhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit.
Quoted in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The New Normal (2020)
The incident in which Valya Harkonnen uses her voice comes from a story called “Mentats of Dune.” All three books weave together the evolution of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk doctors. I don’t want to criticize just the first episode of a TV series, but this one was just average on every level. The acting was subpar, except for some of the well-known actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and maybe Travis Fimmel. The rest of the actors seemed like they just came out of film academy or something.
The story was very loose and the dialogue wasn’t worthy
I love slow dramas that take forever to build up because I know it’s worth the wait. But this episode wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to say it. The soundtrack, which wasn’t that good in the movies, was a little ripped off here, some familiar sounds popped up here and there but the timing just wasn’t good. I’ve heard a lot of music here that had no impact.
My question is, did he even like that this was being made?
I remember how long in the movies there were just people talking and then – boom – Hans Zimmer did his magic and I was just so excited. But I know he wasn’t involved in the sounds here and I don’t even need to check. I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not. Would an average TV show like this after two epic movies have an impact on the long awaited third movie?
Food for thought
The reason I’m wondering is because The Penguin was so good that I appreciated The Batman even more than I did after watching it and can’t wait for the second movie. So how would Dune: Prophecy affect the third movie, if there is to be one at all?
