In terms of oculus app content, we’re all familiar with the Oculus storefront and its strict curation. This is what ensures that the quality of games and experiences up and stops poor-quality apps from sliding into the gaps. This makes it difficult for independent developers to create their VR content on Oculus.
To combat this issue Oculus recently introduced a new program called “App Lab” to give independent developers a place to post their VR content without going through the rigorous curation process of the Oculus storefront. The App Lab is similar to the traditional Oculus storefront in that you can browse and install apps the same way you would on a try this site traditional storefront however, it’s not as curated.
If your app performs well in the App Lab it could be promoted to the Oculus Storefront which will help it gain more recognition and be able to reach a wider audience. However it’s not based solely on download numbers, but also on factors like retention metrics, long-term profitability, the development team, etc.
App Lab is a fantastic way to experience the full variety of Oculus Quest applications. There are tons of exciting games and experiences to play, including well-known non-games such as Tilt Brush which turns your headset into a virtual art studio. Quill Theater is a cool VR media app that shows amazing 6DoF animations and movies created by the community.
