Divine G, incarcerated at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose performing in a theater group alongside other inmates in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the actors audition for various roles in the play. These are the actual audition tapes used for the actors in the film. The group has been criticized for not doing comedies, but their previous show was “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” which is a comedy. Rating: 8.7 Overall, a powerful film that shows how prisoners are still human despite their flaws, as the film uses alumni of Sing Sing’s RTA program to deliver this powerful message of redemption, led by a great performance by Colman Domingo.
