Do you need a lawyer? He runs his law firm from his Lincoln and is ready to step on the gas. Moving to Los Angeles, he takes matters into his own hands and balances a private life that includes being a father and two ex-wives. It was originally set up with CBS for a 2020 series commitment, but was canceled just before filming the first episode due to COVID. Netflix has now picked up this 10-episode first season, based on Mickey Haller’s second book, “The Brass Verdict.” Mickey Haller has several cars, all with personalized California license plates and legal terms. California personalized plates allow a maximum of seven letters/numbers, but all Mickey plates have a minimum of eight. Referenced in Shrine of Telly: Week 3 (2022).
The setting, the dialogue, the story – everything is top notch
I liked the movie, but I think I like the series more. To take such a decent film and make an adaptation that surpasses it overall is a huge undertaking. There is no doubt that they spent a lot of money on this series. Don’t expect it to be exactly like the movie, because it shouldn’t be, and don’t compare this to the novels (apples and oranges). I haven’t seen the main character (Garcia-Rulfo) play the lead in anything that I can remember, although he has appeared in some exceptional films over the past decade. He plays this role very well and I think we will see a long awaited opportunity for him. Amazingly, he embodies the lawyer hero essence required for this role (as does McConaughey).
He can’t help but play
I think the success of the series depends solely on this factor. Neve Campbell is awesome as always. I think the other supporting roles are satisfactory. Kelley), The Good Wife (not Kelley) and now The Lincoln Advocate (David E. Kelley). If this series stands the test of time like all of his previous legitimate series, it will surpass anything currently airing (in this genre, of course). Within the first 30 minutes I felt the same chills I remember from so many years ago. Back then we could only watch one episode a week when they came out, but now in the age of binge watching, I can take it all in this weekend. Kelley’s creations/productions and I don’t regret a single moment of my wasted youth. The only question I have is: why did they wait so long to make another great movie?
Do we smell like the police?
Sure, but it’s mainstream these days, and whether we like it or not, the organism of the entertainment industry has joined this ‘culture’. Accept it and move on, or you’ll deprive yourself of some of the enjoyment you deserve, like Lincoln Lawyer. Entertainment value: 9. Acting: 6. Writing: 7. Photography: 8. Average value: 7.5.
