Robert Pattinson’s character in “The Penguin”
Line of Events
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, is making a play to take over the reins of crime in Gotham. Aside from the bat signal he received in the final shot of the season finale, we never got ours. In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: where the hell was Batman?.
The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
Colin Farrell fought hard to get his own version of The Penguin to smoke in The Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out. In his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual smoker who prefers to smoke a cigar. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros.
Featuring Graham Norton and guest stars: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024)
logo. A direct sequel to the first episode, Matt Reeves' Batman and I think those who haven’t seen the latter are a bit lost. But I watched The Batman a while ago, and this series did a wonderful job of quickly picking up where the movie left off, without getting bogged down in a didactic recap.
I have my doubts about the Penguin being shown as a teenager
It also nicely captures the aesthetic and dark tone of the film, although the acting is much more sly than the film. As in Batman, Colin Farrell does an excellent job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mob “street guy”: “indecent, profane, mercurial and violent; but smart, cunning and knows how to read people.” The character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. and I don’t know if the Penguin’s plot is enough to last a full season.
But it’s off to a great start so far
See "Yellowstone" Season 5, Episode 2, "Squid Game" Season 2 of the most anticipated new and returning series and more coming to TV and streaming.
